How much debt do I have to have in order to file for bankruptcy? 

Earlier this week my partner, Robert Reese, posted an article about debt buyer lawsuits.

With the New Year in full force, so many of us started out with high and lofty goals only to realize by about January 23rd (or often in my own case January 3rd) that perhaps some more practical "intentions" might be more attainable.

With the blessed addition to our family last year, my husband and I have decided we need to have a house with a lot more space.  It is amazing how much room an eight month old baby needs.  To begin the process we contacted our realtor and he was able to offer some great tips to help market our home to potential buyers.

Just finished reading an article that was originally published in the New York Times on 1-9-15 entitled, “Debt Buyer Faces Fine in Doubtful Lawsuits”. As a bankruptcy and consumer law attorney, I read the article with great interest and it confirmed what I have previously thought and observed.

Important Change in the VA Claims Process

I get asked this question a lot and it is because many people truly believe that after filing bankruptcy that they are going to lose all their assets they currently own and/or they have to wait a period of time to acquire an asset after filing.

The Supreme Court made an important ruling in 2014 concerning inherited IRAs.   In Clark v. Rameker , the Court unanimously held that unlike a self-funded IRA, an inherited IRA is not protected in bankruptcy.
