What happened in 2008 for the mounting student loan debt to be called a “crisis”?

While most major airlines are seeing record profits, the success does not seem to be trickling down to the smaller carriers. On Thursday, Republic Airways Holdings filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy protection.

Almost all bankruptcies that are filed are voluntary bankruptcies.  That is, the debtor decides to file for bankruptcy on behalf of him or herself.  In addition to a voluntary bankruptcy, the law also allows for creditors to file an involuntary bankruptcy.  An involuntary bankruptcy is one filed by someone other than the debtor.

This is a sad story.  The Veteran who languished on a VA list for a long time has, unfortunately, passed away.

Recently, a Houston resident made national headlines for his claim of being arrested over a $1,500.00 student loan debt that he incurred in 1987.  Several media outlets reported that the U.S. Federal Marshals came to his home in full combat gear.
