Publix Offers Prescription Discounts on a Number of Common Drugs

In Alabama, as in most states, a number of people struggle each month to pay for prescription costs. For those Alabamians, a new program at Publix Pharmacy locations is going to bring big relief.  The new program called “The Next Best Thing to Free” will offer a 90 day supply on a certain number of drugs for common ailments for out-of-pocket costs of only $7.50, regardless of whether you have insurance coverage or not.

The prescriptions treat of wide variety of ailments and conditions, including: Heart/Cardiovascular, Diabetes, Mental Health, Seizure Disorders, Parkinson’s Disease, Alzheimer’s Disease, Osteoporosis, Gout, Arthritis/Pain, Gastrointestinal, Asthma/Allergies, Men’s Health and Women’s Health.

The fact that those struggling to make ends meet each month can know that they can pay only $7.50 and receive a 90 day supply of a potentially a life-saving medicine is comforting. Publix should be commended for implementing this program.

In October, I lost my grandmother who was suffering with Alzheimer’s. Although the disease was very aggressive at the end, my mother did everything she could to pay for my grandmother’s prescriptions to help relieve some of the complications while she suffered from this awful disease.  The out-of-pocket drugs were quite expensive.  It is comforting to know that Publix is looking out for our seniors and others who are less financially fortunate to allow these individuals a chance to take their medications without having to worry how to pay for them.

In addition to this program, Publix offers nine prescriptions with no out-of-pocket costs for certain high blood pressure, diabetes, allergies and antibiotics medications.  Certain restrictions may apply.
