Most people would say that it’s very important to keep first things first…prioritize!! Faith, Family, Finances! (Although here in the South it would likely be Faith, Family, FOOTBALL!!) But, with the way life goes now days, priorities have a tendency to get very jumbled and we can sometimes get off track. More often than not, the people that we meet with day by day that have been working on getting their finances in order, maintaining, staying afloat, all of that starts taking priority in life and the things that are most important get shoved away, or at the very least, get lost in the shuffle of trying to maintain some semblance of order in life.
So like it or not, I usually take a time out with clients and shift gears to encourage them to not be disappointed in themselves because God is NOT mad or disappointed that they may be experiencing financial problems. Life is all about growing. Some people are blessed financially and never have the first worry about paying a bill. But that same person may not be able to get along with anyone in their family or not have a friend they could count on. Most of us have an idea in our mind when we look at others that their lives are fine. They have no problems. But, my friends, that’s not true. There is no such thing as a perfect life, except as lived by One Man, Jesus. My husband always says, “If everything was perfect, where would be the need for God?!” and “God knew what he was getting when He got us!”
That’s why I believe that our bankruptcy system is fashioned after the very same laws that God Himself implemented over 4000 years ago. Deuteronomy 15:1 says, “At the end of every seven years you shall grant a release of debts.” The bankruptcy system provides a remedy for those who have been in bondage to debt by allowing them to either pay debts back over time or be released from debt to get a second chance…a second chance to re-prioritize and hopefully get going in the right direction the next time around.
We are very blessed to live in a country where we can experience second chances when we may miss the mark the first time. We encourage you to come into the office for a free consultation with one of our attorneys to help you understand the good future that is before you and to enjoy your life which will hopefully be filled with the best priorities….Faith, Family, Friends…….and Football!!
