Layoffs and Lower Gas Prices

birmingham bankruptcy lawyer robert reeseI read with interest an article on myfoxal.com which discussed the potential layoff of hundreds of workers at the Fairfield Tubular Operations and Fairfield Works in the Birmingham, AL area. Nearly 1600 workers received notices but the actual number will depend on market demand according to the article. One of the concerns cited was lower gas prices. Most Americans are more than happy to see gas prices coming down but as we can see, it can also have a negative effect to this type of industry and other industries.

If these layoffs happen, many family’s incomes will be reduced dramatically and they may not be able to pay their monthly mortgage payments, vehicles payments, and other debts unless they have saved for a rainy day. Over time this could lead to foreclosure, repossession, and harassing phone calls from creditors or collection agencies.  Families that are experiencing difficult times due layoffs, job loss, medical, or other issues need to realize that there are options that can help. The key is not to procrastinate but to be proactive. Contact an experienced Bankruptcy attorney to discuss what options are available to protect your assets and your family. I would encourage you to set up an initial free consultation with one of our licensed attorneys to discuss those options. You have nothing to lose and much to gain, so call our office and tell our receptionist that you would like to set up a free consultation to meet with one of our attorneys.
